That is the short version of how it all went down. What is crazier than all of that is the timing. I know that if we were in Croatia, I would have waited MUCH longer before I would have ever gone to the emergency room. It's hard for me to go to the doctor's office in my own culture, but in a new culture, those things are slightly terrifying to do. With appendicitis, as the appendix dies, it can seap bad stuff into your body or it can burst, so if you wait too long, it can end very badly.
So, I'm sitting here, with three new incisions, and a sense of gratitude that this happened in God's timing, not mine. I'm sitting here with a sense of thankfulness that I was in good care and chose to go early enough before things turned badly. In about 3 days, I'm going to the doctor for a follow-up, in which I hope he will grant me approval to travel, and then it's off to France and then Croatia, where will be begin our new life, sans one appendix that is.
