We've also been visiting churches; sharing about our transition from France to Croatia and about our new role in Croatia, which has been such a blessing! By the time we go back to Europe, we'll have visited 6 churches and had 1 missions dinner. It's our first mini-deputation, and we are really enjoying it. Just yesterday, a woman I saw with tears in her eyes as I shared about a story of when I went on a Missions trip once and it was the first time I realized that it's not me that does the saving, but God and that I needed to give what I had seen to God. I was having a hard time leaving this small child we had been taking care of those 2 weeks. She came up to me after the service and told me just how much she resonated with what we shared, especially about doing ministry through relationships in this post-modern culture we live in. It was a great time of connecting but also the beginning of a great partnership, and that really is the coolest part about visiting churches.
Meanwhile, while we wait and get documents ready for our Visas, we are getting to spend quality time with people here in Ohio. We even recently had the pleasure of having a really long conversation with an acquaintance who happens to be an Atheist. We mostly listened to why he believes what he believes, and interjected a few questions, but mostly listened. It was a very enlightening conversation in coming to understand why he is where he is today. At one time, I asked him, if during his time of questioning before he came to the firm decision he is today, if he had ever asked God to show him he was real or ask God if God was real. He hesitated slightly, and then only replied with why would he do that if he thought God wasn't real. I found that while I disagreed with what he was saying, that I came away from it wanting to have the same passion and knowledge to explain to anyone, like he does, why I believe what I believe. That day I also prayed that God would show him that He is real.
So, meanwhile, pray with us as we move forward in the Visa process. We really want it to go smoothly and not have to extend our trip again; we're eager to work with our team in Croatia, who has been there now for over a month. We're excited to get to know them, and begin to see ways we can serve the people of Croatia.
